sexy MALES

7 unique fantasy male figurines with a female glaze

‘Over the years, I have talked to different companies and manufacturers about the idea of creating pinups for women. Though the idea seemed genuinely well-received and appreciated, nobody was able to achieve what I thought most women were looking for but a few did come very close.’

From women for women

Shoshie is producing a series of male Demi-Human figures in 54mm scale that are designed with the female gaze in mind. From the concept art to the sculpting, almost every aspect of these figures is designed by women, bringing a diverse perspective to miniatures.

'It’s my hope that my art will show people what’s possible.
Doing things differently will create a whole new market of people who will venture into our hobby world and make it even better!' - Shoshie Bauer

WISHING FOR A SOUL

Male beauty and male emotion as main theme

Both of these two elements are rarely seen in the commercial fantasy genre, let alone miniatures. The first miniature to come to mind was a male angel. I wanted provocative male figures but not necessarily sexualized

Shoshie Bauer - Designer and painter

Shoshie’s view

There are so many men out there that I know that are beautiful, kind, and protective, that’s where I wanted to begin, and angels fit that perfectly.
According to lore, angels do not have souls as humans do. My Angel sculpt is caught in that moment of poignancy; recognizing he does not have a soul and grieving the absence of this piece of what makes humans, human.
It is rare to find a male miniature that is both emotionally vulnerable and attractive at the same time. But once this model was sculpted, I knew he was the right way to go’

NICE CATCH!

Pure joy

I’ve painted many miniatures since I started in 2014 and Nice Catch! Is definitely a first for me in many ways! While the muscular pinup-style physique was a fun challenge to paint, I found myself especially connected to the joyful energy of the piece. I was also surprised by how rewarding it was to paint a face I recognized- A Filipino face! (My mother’s side of the family is from the Philippines.)
The sculptor did an incredible job capturing the unique facial features that many folks of Filipino descent share: the wider, flatter nose, the expressive almond-shaped eyes, and even the “puffy” under eyes when we smile. (Something I always disliked about my own face but now somehow a little bit less after painting this guy!)

Mocha_Minis - Studio art painter

Shoshie’s view

For this mini, Shoshie encouraged us to really capture Filipino’s features. We worked hard on it, developing tweaks, feedback after feedback. None of us, as Spaniards, had Filipino ancestors, but Shoshie asked her Filipino friends and community for feedback, which was translated into the sculpt.

The other key feature of this figurine is the emotion. Joy seems to be permitted just for dwarfs, hobbits, and chubby people. Shoshie was looking for a joyful, happy young boy, enjoying the art of fishing without any competition.

Shhh...or I will be forced to remove you.

This was a multipiece figurine: the demon, with two interchangeable heads -with glasses and without them-, the chesterfield armchair and the bookshelf, plenty of books and other items. With giant hooved boots -do he has hooved legs or are they just cosplaying boots? it’s your choice!- and a bondage harness  which was carefully sculpted to hide the casting cuts.

Shoshie’s view

‘The miniature conveys non-threatening male sexuality with its confident and intellectual pose, exuding both intelligence and sex appeal. The body language of the demon librarian is carefully crafted to be neither overpowering nor aggressive. He is an attractive figure, appealing to people of all genders and sexual orientations.’

Cat Daddy's Tale

Body positivity

Traditional fantasy settings often depict impossibly chiseled and muscular characters as the norm. By featuring a dad-bod Half-Orc, we challenge these unrealistic beauty standards and encourage a more realistic and diverse portrayal of characters.

Shoshie Bauer

Shoshie’s view

Let’s forget the imposed rudeness. Every character must be imposing in the face of their enemies, but why should they be imposing to other creatures?

This half-orc loves animals, and and his masculinity is strong enough to allow him to enjoy this pair of kittens hat are determined to conquer his heart – and his back. Anyone who share their life with cats knows you better pay attention to them if they’re requesting for it!

We added some cool details for him as the cleated sandals, the cat’s balls and the plumber’s crack.
