Our customer, Tom, was looking for a special thank your gift for a friend of him.
Tom’s rough idea was to have something in the style of an armoured 40K soldier – since those are the miniatures his friend paints – but with his likeness and in the action of throwing a disc-golf disc (with his left hand, since he’s a lefty) instead of weaponry. He was also very fond of wearing a scarf, so it was incorporated into the armour design.
Tom’s friend is French. As Europeans, we know that French people who aren’t from Paris hate get them related with Parisian stereotips. But Tom wanted some funny stereotips in his gift, so we proposed him to include some elements from his friend’s actual region, Normandy. Instead of including any Eiffel Tower reference, we put him over the f*cking Mont Saint-Michelle. Not sculpted from scratch, we used this fantastic model shared by Sharkera on Thingiverse. It was quite edited to ensure printability at small scales and embellised with some extra terrain. Furthermore, we sculpted a custom jetpack inspired by Notre Dame cathedral. His chest crew was replaced by a rooster over the France silhouette, and he has a holstered baguette. He also carries Asterix’s sword and canteen. Alons-y!
